Nonlinear Elasticity in Biological Gels [PDF]
Unlike most synthetic materials, biological materials often stiffen as they are deformed. This nonlinear elastic response, critical for the physiological function of some tissues, has been documented since at least the 19th century, but the molecular ...

First-principles calculations of a high-pressure synthesized compound PtC [PDF]
First-principles density-functional method is used to study the recently high-pressure synthesized compound PtC. It is confirmed by our calculations that the platinum carbide has a zinc-blende ground-state phase at zero pressure and the rock-salt ...

Hardening effects on formability limit prediction based on gurson-type damage models and bifurcation analysis [PDF]
In this work, ductility limits of metallic materials, associated with the occurrence of strain localization, are predicted using the GTN damage model coupled with bifurcation theory.

Enhanced Endoscopic Internal Drainage of Gastric Abscess Through Additively Manufactured Stents
Postoperative gastric leaks are often treated with off‐label biliary double‐pigtail stents, yet conventional extruded designs are not optimized for leak anatomy, can migrate, and may limit abscess evacuation. PETALS is introduced to optimize transmural drainage geometry and enable patient‐specific 3D‐printable stents.
