Stochastic switching time constant and instability in nanomagnets

open access: yesCommunications Materials
The Arrhenius law governs thermally-activated phenomena with a pre-exponential factor, the attempt time τ 0, which defines the time constant of stochastic process.

Constant Weight Space-Time Codes for Dimmable MIMO-VLC Systems

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2020
Visible light communication(VLC), which combines communication and illumination, is regarded as a potential wireless communication. For illumination requirements of VLC systems, dimming control is a significant function.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Bifurcation in a Discrete-Time Piecewise Constant Dynamical System

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2013
The study of recurrent neural networks with piecewise constant transition or control functions has attracted much attention recently because they can be used to simulate many physical phenomena.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Preservation of Speculative Constant-Time by Compilation

open access: yesProceedings of the ACM on Programming Languages
Compilers often weaken or even discard software-based countermeasures commonly used to protect programs against side-channel attacks; worse, they may also introduce vulnerabilities that attackers can exploit. The solution to this problemis to develop compilers that preserve such countermeasures.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

From Constant to Liberalism, a new political ideology. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
openBenjamin Constant è l'uomo che più profondamente ha cambiato il concetto di liberalismo, rendendolo aperto anche ad influenze esterne come quelle democratiche.

Quasi‐Constant Time Gap in Multiple Rings of Elves

open access: yesEarth and Space Science
We present evidence that the time delay between the multiple rings of elves is not caused by the ground reflection of the electromagnetic pulse produced by intracloud lightning.

Union-Find with Constant Time Deletions [PDF]

open access: yesACM Transactions on Algorithms, 2005
A union-find data structure maintains a collection of disjoint sets under the operations makeset, union, and find. Kaplan, Shafrir, and Tarjan [SODA 2002] designed data structures for an extension of the union-find problem in which items of the sets maintained may be deleted.
