Slowing light in a non-dispersive and controllable fashion opens the door to many new phenomena in photonics. As such, many schemes have been put forward to decrease the velocity of light, most of which are limited in bandwidth or incur high losses.

Multi-band antenna for different wireless applications [PDF]
A small multi-band compact antenna is presented. The antenna is designed on Roger RT/duroid 5880 with dielectric constant 2.2, multi-band operations is achieved by inserting a slot on the top patch. The antenna has wide impedance bandwidth at 1.2, 1.6, 2.

The effect of bandwidth in scale-free network traffic [PDF]
We model information traffic on scale-free networks by introducing the bandwidth as the delivering ability of links. We focus on the effects of bandwidth on the packet delivering ability of the traffic system to better understand traffic dynamic in real ...

Octave Bandwidth Constant Beamwidth Underwater Receiving Array [PDF]
By a method described at the 79th meeting of the Society, a seven-element linear broadside array was designed to give a constant beamwidth of 26° from 10 to 20 kHz. Five elements spaced 12λ at 10 kHz comprised one array. Using three of these and two more, a half-size array with spacing of 12λ at 20 kHz was obtained.

Effect of dead space on avalanche speed [PDF]
The effects of dead space (the minimum distance travelled by a carrier before acquiring enough energy to impact ionize) on the current impulse response and bandwidth of an avalanche multiplication process are obtained from a numerical model that ...

IF impedance and mixer gain of NbN hot electron bolometers [PDF]
The intermediate frequency (IF) characteristics, the frequency dependent IF impedance, and the mixer conversion gain of a small area hot electron bolometer (HEB) have been measured and modeled. The device used is a twin slot antenna coupled NbN HEB mixer

Optimal Dimensioning of a Constant Bandwidth Server [PDF]
The Constant Bandwidth Server (CBS) is an effective scheduling technique frequently used to handle overruns and implement resource reservation in real-time systems where tasks have variable execution requirements. The behavior of the server is tuned by two parameters: the server bandwidth, which defines the fraction of the processor allocated to the ...
