Wilcoxon Nonparametric CFAR Scheme for Ship Detection in SAR Image

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
The parametric constant false alarm rate (CFAR) detection algorithms, which are based on various statistical distributions, such as Gaussian, Gamma, Weibull, log-normal, $G^{0}$, and alpha-stable distribution, are most widely used to detect the ship ...

Harmful intrusion detection algorithm of optical fiber pre-warning system based on correlation of orthogonal polarization signals

open access: yesPhotonic Sensors, 2017
At present, advanced researches of optical fiber intrusion measurement are based on the constant false alarm rate (CFAR) algorithm. Although these conventional methods overcome the interference of non-stationary random signals, there are still a large ...

A Review of Advances in Composite Materials, Structural Optimization, and Machine Learning for Wind Turbine Blades: Challenges and Future Perspectives

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Overview of the holistic engineering lifecycle and core research pillars for wind turbine blades. ABSTRACT This paper reviews recent advancements across the lifecycle of wind turbine blades, focusing on three interconnected areas: advanced composites, structural optimization, and machine learning (ML) diagnostics. In materials, we highlight progress in

Living Well With Type 1 Diabetes in Middle School: A Student‐Centered Perspective

open access: yesPsychology in the Schools, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is among the most common chronic illnesses affecting children and adolescents, meaning that all schools regularly include students with T1D. Supporting their well‐being requires understanding how they experience middle school to address their specific needs.

Robust spectrum sensing under noise uncertainty for spectrum sharing

open access: yesETRI Journal, 2019
Spectrum sensing plays an important role in spectrum sharing. Energy detection is generally used because it does not require a priori knowledge of primary user, (PU) signals; however, it is sensitive to noise uncertainty.

Entraining CAPE and a simplified instability index for better assessment of environmental conditions of quasi‐stationary linear precipitation systems

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Quasi‐stationary linear precipitation systems (QSLPSs) are a major cause of heavy rainfall in Japan, persisting over the same region for more than five hours. This study demonstrates that entraining convective available potential energy (E‐CAPE), which accounts for environmental air entrainment during parcel ascent, more accurately characterises the ...

An autonomous network of acoustic detectors to map tiger risk by eavesdropping on prey alarm calls

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Tiger population recovery brings with it increased fatalities from human‐tiger conflict. We describe a network of autonomous intelligent passive acoustic sensors that monitor the forest for deer alarm calls as a proxy for tiger risk and provide a risk map to local communities in real‐time.

The Software-Based Implementation of the CFAR Reciever for the Processing of the Radar Signal

open access: yesAdvances in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2007
The performance of a radar receiver is greatly dependent on the presence of noise. The receiver should achieve the constant false alarm rate (CFAR) and the maximum probability of the target detection.
