A Joint Detection Method Using Modulated Envelope Feature for Clutter Suppression

open access: yesIET Signal Processing, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
To reduce the impact of clutter on the target observation of surveillance radars, this article offers a new feature detection method that relies on modulation features throughout the radar azimuth scanning process to suppress clutter false alarms. In contrast to typical traditional time‐domain detection methods, this work deviates from the standard ...

CFAR Target Detector in Synthetic Aperture Radar

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений России: Радиоэлектроника
Introduction. Constant false alarm rate (CFAR) detectors have found application in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems. The operating principle of a classic cell averaging detector (CA-CFAR detector) is based on comparing the decision statistics in ...

PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF A MODIFIED CFAR BASED RADAR DETECTOR UNDER PEARSON DISTRIBUTED CLUTTER [PDF]

open access: yesICTACT Journal on Communication Technology, 2014
An adaptive target detector in radar system is used to extract targets from background in noisy environment of unknown statistics. The constant false alarm rate (CFAR) is well known detection algorithm that is being used in almost every modern radar. The

A Low‐Complexity Target Detection Technique Using the Prefix Sum Algorithm

open access: yesElectronics Letters, Volume 61, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
The conventional CA‐CFAR technique has a time complexity of O(n4). A novelty CA‐CFAR technique based on the prefix sum algorithm with a complexity O(n2) is proposed in this article. ABSTRACT A conventional target detection technique for FMCW millimeter‐wave radar applies a two‐dimensional (2D) cell‐averaging constant false alarm rate (CA‐CFAR) detector

Radar Manoeuvring Target Detection Based on RANSAC Algorithm

open access: yesElectronics Letters, Volume 61, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This letter presents a novel random sample consensus (RANSAC)‐based algorithm for detecting manoeuvring targets in radar systems. The proposed method circumvents the requirement for Doppler migration correction and can be widely applied to to various target motion profiles.

Detecting flying objects in synthetic aperture radar images using Moving Target Indicator methods

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar &Navigation, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This paper presents a moving target indicator detection method (MTI) for detecting planes during take‐off in synthetic aperture radar data, and a theoretical ground‐clutter suppression method via cross‐track interferometry to detect airborne targets. The MTI method combines interferometric processing, acceleration compensation, and autofocus techniques.

Robust Test Statistic for Cooperative Spectrum Sensing Based on the Gerschgorin Circle Theorem

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
The Gerschgorin circle theorem was recently applied to build two detectors for the purpose of spectrum sensing in cognitive radio applications, the so-called Gerschgorin radius-based and the Gerschgorin disk-based detectors.
