Surfaces of the Constant Mean Curvature

2015
“Soap bubble” may be called a physical system which is modeled by a surface of constant mean curvature in Euclidian three-dimensional space R 3.

Surfaces with Constant Mean Curvature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The mean curvature of a surface is an extrinsic parameter measuring how the surface is curved in the three-dimensional space. A surface whose mean curvature is zero at each point is a minimal surface, and it is known that such surfaces are models for ...

Kenmotsu-Bryant type representation formula for constant mean curvature spacelike surfaces in H31(c2) [PDF]

open access: yesDifferential Geometry and Its Applications, 1998
Our primary object of this paper is to give a representation formula for constant mean curvature spacelike surfaces (including maximal surfaces) in the anti-de Sitter 3-space H31(c2) of constant negative curvature c2, similar to the Kenmotsu type ...

Computing surface of constant mean curvature with singularities

Computing, 1984
A finite element method is presented for the approximation of minimal surfaces with constant mean curvature. The surfaces are composed of several sheets meeting to form a singular curve. The results are compared against examples that have an exact solution.

Constant Mean Curvature Surfaces in Hyperbolic Space

American Journal of Mathematics, 1992
The authors study the global geometry of complete, proper surfaces in hyperbolic \((n+1)\)-space with constant curvature \(>n\). Main results are, that such are never closed surfaces with only one puncture. If they have two punctures that are Delaunay cylinders, and if they have 3 punctures they remain a bounded distance from a geodesic plane.

Existence and uniqueness of complete constant mean curvature surfaces at infinity ofH 3 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geometric Analysis, 1999
A set of conditions are given, each equivalent to the constancy of mean curvature of a surface in H3. It is shown that analogs of these equivalences exist for surfaces in S2∞, the bounding ideal sphere of H3, leading to a notion of constant mean ...

Constant Mean Curvature Embedded Surfaces

2013
The interest in this chapter is what type of symmetries imposes a given a space closed curve \(\varGamma\subset \mathbb{R}^{3}\) on the shape of a compact cmc surface spanning Γ. In the context of embedded surfaces, this problem may be partially answered using the reflection technique of Alexandrov.
