Tracking Performance of Two Constant Modulus Equalizers

Exploiting the error variance relation, this letter discusses the evaluation of excess mean square error (EMSE) of constant modulus equalizers in a noise-free non-stationary environment. The EMSE analyses are presented for two equalizers - the CMA22 and the βCMA.

Cramer-Rao bounds (CRBs) are developed for narrow band source separation, when the sources are constrained to have constant modulus (CM). The bounds are appropriate for multi path CM sources, in blind, semi-blind, or fully known cases. Source separation bounds are contrasted for calibrated and uncalibrated arrays.

Misadjustment and tracking analysis of the constant modulus array

The constant modulus (CM) array is a blind adaptive beamformer that can separate cochannel signals. A follow-on adaptive signal canceler may be used to perform direction finding of the source captured by the array. In this paper, we analyze the convergence and tracking properties of the CM array using a least-mean-square approximation.
