A Simplified Laminar Flow Model for the Pultrusion of Glass Fiber/Polyethylene Terephthalate Commingled Yarns

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,

Complete hypersurfaces with constant scalar curvature in spheres

open access: yes, 2010
To a given immersion i : M-n -> Sn+1 with constant scalar curvature R, we associate the supremum of the squared norm of the second fundamental form sup vertical bar A vertical bar(2). We prove the existence of a constant C (n) (R) depending on R and n so

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Nonuniqueness of constant scalar curvature metrics in a conformal class

open access: yes, 2009
The Yamabe Problem asks when the conformal class of a compact, Riemannian manifold (M, g) contains a metric g¯ of constant scalar curvature. Its resolution established that it always does, and that the sign of this constant is a conformal invariant.

Additive Manufacturing of Continuous Fibre Reinforced Composites: Process, Characterisation, Modelling, and Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing provides precise control over the placement of continuous fibres within polymer matrices, enabling customised mechanical performance in composite components. This article explores processing strategies, mechanical testing, and modelling approaches for additive manufactured continuous fibre‐reinforced composites.

A Study on Contact Metric Manifolds Admitting a Type of Solitons

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics
The principal aim of the present article is to characterize certain properties of η-Ricci–Bourguignon solitons on three types of contact manifolds, that are K-contact manifolds, κ,μ-contact metric manifolds, and Nκ-contact metric manifolds.

𝑂(2)×𝑂(2)-invariant hypersurfaces with constant negative scalar curvature in 𝐸⁴

open access: yes, 1989
We use the method of equivariant differential geometry to prove the existence of a complete hypersurface with constant negative scalar curvature in E n ( n ≥ 4 )

Time‐Dependent Oxidation and Scale Evolution of a Wrought Co/Ni‐Based Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows how a new wrought Co/Ni‐based superalloy resists oxidation at 800 ∘$^\circ$C. The oxide scale changes from rough, fast‐growing spinel to a dense, protective chromia–alumina layer. Atom probe analysis reveals tiny refractory‐rich bubbles at the interface that mark the transition to long‐term, diffusion‐controlled protection ...

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.
