The design of constant stress cantilevers
Journal of Scientific Instruments, 1953The stress-strain properties of spring cantilevers are examined theoretically in sufficient detail to provide a basis for the design of a constant stress device. The construction and the performance of a particular device are described: this maintains stress constant within ±0.9% for 150% extension, or ±0.5% for 50% extension.

Effects of stress on drug-induced yawning: Constant Vs. intermittent stress
Physiology & Behavior, 1995Effects of stress on drug-induced yawning: Constant vs. intermittent stress. PHYSIOL BEHAV 58(1) 181-184, 1995.--Experiment 1 tested whether chronic exposure to immobilization, foot shock or forced swimming would result in suppression of apomorphine-, pilocarpine-, and physostigmine-induced yawning. Immobilization caused suppression of yawning, whereas

A comparative study on understanding the effect of conventional constant voltage stress (CVS) and successive constant voltage stress (SCVS) methodology on the post-breakdown transistor performance has been performed. In CVS stressing methodology, breakdowns in ultrathin gate oxides in narrow MOSFETs in moderate and high compliance current, Igl, range ...

Analysis of states of stress between provinces of constant stress
Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 1982Recent studies have indicated the existence of crustal provinces or domains within which the state of stress shows little apparent horizontal variation. Between provinces the state of stress may undergo substantial changes, often over remarkably short distances.

A constant shearing stress viscometer
Journal of Physics E: Scientific Instruments, 1969A coaxial cylinder viscometer for the study of non-Newtonian materials under conditions of continuous shearing at a constant stress is described. The rate of shear is controlled in such a way that the shearing stress is kept constant at a preset value. The apparent viscosity is inversely proportional to the motor speed. The stress can be varied between

On the photoelastic constants for anisotropic stressed crystals
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2019Abstract The need for high-quality and high-performance crystals for high-energy physics (e.g. scintillators) and biomedical applications require a good knowledge of their mechanical and optical properties, amongst the others. This is a mandatory step in many quality control process aimed at the improvement of the technological processes for crystals

Thermodynamic model of creep at constant stress and constant strain rate
Cold Regions Science and Technology, 1984Abstract A thermodynamic model has been developed that describes the entire creep process, including primary, secondary, and tertiary creep, and failure for both constant stress (CS) tests ( σ = const. ) and constant strain rate (CSR) tests ( ϵ = const.

A constant stress compressive creep machine
Journal of Scientific Instruments, 1966A machine is described whereby the high temperature creep properties of metals can be studied under the action of a constant compressive stress. Precautions have been taken to ensure axial loading and to reduce barrelling of the cylindrical specimen to a minium. An optical extensometer is incorporated which enables strains of 1.3 × 10-5 to be measured.

Corrosion cracking of metals at constant stress and constant strain rate
Soviet Materials Science, 1989In the group of the methods of examining the corrosion cracking resistance of metals, special attention has been attracting the method based on tensile loading of a constant strain rate. Therefore, the number of methods of laboratory testing of metals has been constantly increasing, the number of types of specimens has also grown, and the range of ...
