DESIGN OF A CONSTANT VOLUME COMBUSTION CHAMBER WITH OPTICAL APPROACH TECHNIQUE

Journal of Science and Technology - IUH, 2023
The combustion process in the internal combustion engine is realized as the core of the engine's power and exhaust emission formation. This paper describes the design of a constant volume combustion chamber (CVCC) to simulate the combustion process of the diesel engine with the optical approach technique.

Fuel spray and combustion characteristics of butanol blends in a constant volume combustion chamber

Energy Conversion and Management, 2015
Abstract The processes of spray penetrations, flame propagation and soot formation and oxidation fueling n-butanol/biodiesel/diesel blends were experimentally investigated in a constant volume combustion chamber with an optical access. B0S20D80 (0% n-butanol, 20% soybean biodiesel, and 80% diesel in volume) was prepared as the base fuel.

Investigation of the Combustion Characteristics of GTL Diesel Fuel in a Constant Volume Combustion Chamber

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2007
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The results of an optical investigation into the combustion characteristics of GTL (Gas-To-Liquids) diesel fuel are presented. The investigation was carried out using a high pressure, constant volume combustion chamber with optical access, fitted with a modern diesel injection system.

Visualization of Flow/Flame Interaction in a Constant-Volume Combustion Chamber

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1993
<div class="htmlview paragraph">A visualization study using shadowgraphy was performed in an optically-accessible, cylindrical constant-volume combustion chamber to identify the mechanism of flow/flame interaction in spark-ignited, lean propane-air mixtures.

Combustion Characteristics in a Constant Volume Chamber of Diesel Blended with HTL

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2019
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">There are a few different ways in which biofuels can be sourced, with the most popular coming from agricultural sources. An alternative approach is to utilize biowaste. An estimated 20 million dry tons of volatile organic compounds, or biowaste, is annually deposited in US ...

The Combustion Characteristics with Supply Conditions of Propane Fuel at the Constant Volume Combustion Chamber

Transactions of the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers B, 2004
The emission control of automobile has been intensified as a part of the countermeasure to decrease air pollution in the world. As the cars with an alternative fuel starts to get into the spotlight, the cars with low emission has been introduced and exhaust gas regulation forced in this country.

Premixed Combustion Under Electric Field in a Constant Volume Chamber

IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2012
The effects of electric fields on outwardly propagating premixed flames in a constant volume chamber were experimentally investigated. An electric plug, subjected to high electrical voltages, was used to generate electric fields inside the chamber. To minimize directional ionic wind effects, alternating current with frequency of 1 kHz was employed ...

Premixed Flame Propagation and Morphology in a Constant Volume Combustion Chamber

Combustion Science and Technology, 2014
This work presents an experimental and numerical investigation of premixed flame propagation in a constant volume rectangular channel with an aspect ratio of six (6) that serves as a combustion chamber. Ignition is followed by an accelerating cusped finger-shaped flame-front.

Two-dimensional measurements of the [OH] in a constant volume combustion chamber

Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1985
The planar distribution of the OH concentration in a methane-air flame in a constant volume combustion chamber has been measured with two-dimensional laser-induced fluorescence. A Nd:YAG-pumped pulsed dye laser with frequency doubling was used to form a sheet of laser light which excited the OH A2Σ (v′=1)−X2Π (v″=0) transition.

Microwave Enhancement of Lean/Dilute Combustion in a Constant-Volume Chamber

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2019
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">High dilution engines have been shown to have a significant fuel economy improvement over their non-dilute counterparts. Much of this improvement comes through an increase in compression ratio enabled by the high knock resistance from high dilution.
