Two-Dimensional Constellation Shaping in Fiber-Optic Communications
Constellation shaping has been widely used in optical communication systems. We review recent advances in two-dimensional constellation shaping technologies for fiber-optic communications. The system architectures that are discussed include probabilistic

Optimal Probabilistic Constellation Shaping for Covert Communications
In this paper, we investigate the optimal probabilistic constellation shaping design for covert communication systems from a practical view. Different from conventional covert communications with equiprobable constellations modulation, we propose nonequiprobable constellations modulation schemes to further enhance the covert rate.

Probabilistic Constellation Shaping for Optical Fiber Communications [PDF]
We review probabilistic constellation shaping (PCS), which has been a key enabler for several recent record-setting optical fiber communications experiments. PCS provides both fine-grained rate adaptability and energy efficiency (sensitivity) gains. We discuss the reasons for the fundamentally better performance of PCS over other constellation shaping ...

Constellation shaping for IEEE 802.11 [PDF]
A constellation shaping scheme is proposed. The motivation is to decrease the required transmit power for a specified spectral efficiency. Instead of imposing a non-uniform distribution on the constellation or using nonuniformly spaced symbols, a sphere constraint is employed on the n-dimensional signal space.

Shaping Multidimensional Signal Constellations [PDF]
Consider an optimally shaped N-dimensional (N even) signal constellation on a lattice. Assuming continuous approxima- tion, the boundary of the two-dimensional subconstellations is a cir- cle and the boundary of the whole constellation is a hypersphere.

Hierarchical Distribution Matching for Probabilistic Amplitude Shaping
Probabilistic amplitude shaping—implemented through a distribution matcher (DM)—is an effective approach to enhance the performance and the flexibility of bandwidth-efficient coded modulations. Different DM structures have been proposed in the literature.

End-to-End Learning of Constellation Shaping for Optical Fiber Communication Systems
End-to-end learning based on autoencoder can realize robust constellation shaping for optical fiber communications. The existing schemes use the symbol-wise autoencoder (SAE) or bit-wise autoencoder (BAE) to realize the constellation shaping.

Optimization of Probabilistic Shaping for Nonlinear Fiber Channels with Non-Gaussian Noise
Probabilistic constellation shaping is investigated in the context of nonlinear fiber optic communication channels. Based on a general framework, different link types are considered—1. dispersion-managed channels, 2.
