A Cardinality Minimization Approach to Security-Constrained Economic Dispatch [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
We present a threshold-based cardinality minimization formulation to model the security-constrained economic dispatch problem. The model aims to minimize the operating cost of the system while simultaneously reducing the number of lines operating in ...

Topology and Material Optimization in Ultra‐Soft Magneto‐Active Structures: Making Advantage of Residual Anisotropies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Residual magnetization induces pronounced mechanical anisotropy in ultra‐soft magnetorheological elastomers, shaping deformation and actuation even without external magnetic fields. This study introduces a computational‐experimental framework integrating magneto‐mechanical coupling into topology optimization for designing soft magnetic actuators with ...

A Quadratically Constrained Minimization Problem Arising from PDE of Monge-Ampére Type [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This note develops theory and a solution technique for a quadratically constrained eigenvalue minimization problem. This class of problems arises in the numerical solution of fully-nonlinear boundary value problems of Monge-Ampére type. Though it is most

Some results related to constrained non-differentiable (non- smooth) pseudolinear minimization problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
This paper deals with the minimization of a class of non-differentiable (non- smooth) pseudolinear functions over a closed and convex set subject to linear inequality constraints.

Thermodynamic Limits to Molecular Doping in Conjugated Polymers: A Perspective on Phase Behavior and Miscibility

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Molecular doping of conjugated polymers is fundamentally constrained by thermodynamic phase behavior. This Perspective reframes doping efficiency and stability in terms of miscibility limits, binodals, and solvus boundaries, highlighting the role of effective interaction parameters and charge transfer.

Neuromorphic Electronics for Intelligence Everywhere: Emerging Devices, Flexible Platforms, and Scalable System Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The perspective presents an integrated view of neuromorphic technologies, from device physics to real‐time applicability, while highlighting the necessity of full‐stack co‐optimization. By outlining practical hardware‐level strategies to exploit device behavior and mitigate non‐idealities, it shows pathways for building efficient, scalable, and ...

Leaftronics: Bio‐Fractal Scaffolds From Leaf Venation for Low‐Waste Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
“Leaftronics” transforms naturally evolved leaf venation into quasi‐fractal scaffolds for sustainable electronics. Polymer‐infiltrated leaf skeletons can be used to fabricate ultra‐smooth, reflow‐ and thin‐film‐compatible decomposable substrates, while making the same lignocellulose networks conducting results in flexible transparent electrodes.
