A sequentially constructed design for estimating a nonlinear parametric function

Biometrika, 1980
SUMMARY Properties of a design constructed sequentially for a simple nonlinear problem are investigated both theoretically and by simulation. It is proved that the design measure corresponding to the sequential design converges to an optimal measure, even when the latter has singular information matrix.

Differentiating parametric design: Digital workflows in contemporary architecture and construction

Design Studies, 2017
This paper examines Parametric Design (PD) in contemporary architectural practice. It considers three case studies: The Future of Us pavilion, the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the Morpheus Hotel. The case studies illustrate how, compared to non-parametrically and older parametrically designed projects, PD is employed to generate, document and fabricate designs

Parametric Design and Construction Optimization of a Freeform Roof Structure

2011
The pioneering works by Poleni, Rondelet and especially Gaudi, shows how some structural principles related to the field of shape-resistant structures has been well-known for centuries. The design of structural shape has been approached differently; the more analytical way of engineering, such as the works of Dyckeroff and Widmann or the intuitive ...

Integration of parametric design into modular coordination: A construction waste reduction workflow

Automation in Construction, 2018
Abstract The construction industry is under pressure as to reduce the sizable quantities of construction waste generated during construction operations. Modular coordination (MC) and parametric design both have great potentials in reducing waste at the design stage.

Reframing Structures: Construction of parametric design in architectural education

2013
This paper aims at the discussion of opportunities and challenges of using specific construction sub-problems as active parameters in the physical construction of digital parametric design models. To create an overview, a taxonomy of sub-problems for construction is introduced.

Designing with Parametric CAD: Classification and comparison of construction techniques

2001
This paper gives an overview of the rapid evolution of parametrics, from somewhat slow beginnings in academic labs to mainstream commercial CAD. Although not recognized by the user community, parametric CAD is not a single technique but a set of techniques, each with its own advantages and limitations. Each is supported by different technologies.

A Distributed, Parametric Platform for Constructing Secure SBoxes in Block Cipher Designs

2011
Many of the network security protocols employed today utilize symmetric block ciphers (DES, AES and CAST etc). The majority of the symmetric block ciphers implement the crucial substitution operation using look up tables, called substitution boxes. These structures should be highly nonlinear and have bit dispersal, i.e.
