Agustín de Betancourt’s Double-Acting Steam Engine: Analysis through Computer-Aided Engineering
This article analyses the double-acting steam engine designed by Agustín de Betancourt in 1789 and based on the steam engine of James Watt. Its novelty and scientific interest lies in the fact that from the point of view of industrial archaeology and the

Purcell‐Enhanced Spectrally Precise Emission in Dual‐Microcavity Organic Light‐Emitting Diodes
Spectrally precise emission from broadband organic light‐emitting diodes is realized via a dual‐microcavity strategy. This architecture achieves narrowband emission (full width at half maximum, FWHM = 21 nm) with ultrapure color approaching BT.2020 by enhancing the Purcell effect via coupling of excitons with dual‐microcavity resonance.

Identification of Parametric Underspread Linear Systems and Super-Resolution Radar
Identification of time-varying linear systems, which introduce both time-shifts (delays) and frequency-shifts (Doppler-shifts), is a central task in many engineering applications.

PARAMETRIC MODELLING OF THE GEOLOGICAL CROSS SECTION FOR SHIELD TUNNEL DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION
Abstract. Geological information is indispensable for the design and construction of underground structures, especially for large-diameter shield tunnels. The geological cross-section is expected to be accurately and efficiently modelled to provide sufficient geological information for decision-making.

Multimodal Structural Color Graphics Based on Colloidal Photonic Microdome Arrays
A hybrid photonic system combining colloidal crystals and microscale domes is designed to achieve four switchable optical states via the interplay of Bragg reflection and TIR interference. The graphics composed of the photonic microdome arrays provide tunable, angle‐sensitive structural coloration and concealed‐to‐revealed transitions, offering a ...

Color Routing and Beam Steering of Single‐Molecule Emission with a Spherical Silicon Nanoantenna
We experimentally demonstrate broadband directional emission from single molecules using a single spherical silicon nanoparticle assembled via DNA origami. By varying nanoparticle (NP) size and emitter position, we achieve unidirectional emission, beam steering, and color routing at the nanoscale, revealing modal interference as the underlying ...

Spatial aggregation of local likelihood estimates with applications to classification [PDF]
This paper presents a new method for spatially adaptive local (constant) likelihood estimation which applies to a broad class of nonparametric models, including the Gaussian, Poisson and binary response models.
