Mechanisms for contact angle hysteresis and advancing contact angles
Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering, 1999Mixed-wet crude oil/brine/mineral systems typically show a large contact angle hysteresis between the water-receding angle during primary drainage and the water-advancing angle during imbibition. Also, the water-advancing angle may have values that range from 50° to 180°.

Contact angle equilibrium: the intrinsic contact angle
Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology, 1992The conceptual and mathematical difficulties associated with contact angle equilibrium are reviewed and analyzed. The main discussion is centered around the theory of the intrinsic contact angle and its dependence on the three-phase mutual interactions in the vicinity of the contact line.

Current understanding of shale wettability: A review on contact angle measurements
Earth-Science Reviews, 2018Despite the success of hydrocarbon production from unconventional shale reservoirs, the understanding of shale wettability under in-situ conditions remains a challenge.

Hydrophilicity and Water Contact Angle on Methylammonium Lead Iodide
Advanced Materials Interfaces, 2018Surface properties are often assessed with measurements of the contact angle of a water drop. The process is however flawed for the very important class of hybrid perovskite materials, extensively employed in solar cells and optoelectronics research ...

Physics of Fluids A: Fluid Dynamics, 1992
Young [Philos. Trans. (1805)] derived an equation for the contact angle between a liquid–gas interface and a solid boundary, but doubts have been raised about its validity. This issue is reexamined on the basis of a new integral equation for the interface [J. B. Keller and G. J. Merchant, J. Stat. Phys. 63, 1039 (1991)].

Contact lines with a contact angle
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 2013AbstractThis work builds on the foundation laid by Benney & Timson (Stud. Appl. Maths, vol. 63, 1980, pp. 93–98), who examined the flow near a contact line and showed that, if the contact angle is $18{0}^{\circ } $, the usual contact-line singularity does not arise.

CONTACT ANGLE MEASUREMENTS ON HARD CONTACT LENSES
Optometry and Vision Science, 1973ABSTRACT The contact angle of water on three hard contact lens materials was determined by direct measurement. Aqua‐Lens and Aqua‐Cept materials had lower contact angles than conventional hard lens materials.
