Superhydrophobic properties of silver-coated films on copper surface by galvanic exchange reaction [PDF]
Hydrophobic properties of thin nanostructured silver films produced by galvanic exchange reaction on a copper surface were studied after passivation with stearic acid.

Closed-Form Expressions for Contact Angle Hysteresis: Capillary Bridges between Parallel Platens
A closed form expression capable of predicting the evolution of the shape of liquid capillary bridges and the resultant force between parallel platens is derived. Such a scenario occurs within many micro-mechanical structures and devices, for example, in

Micro to nano: Surface size scale and superhydrophobicity
This work looks at the fundamental question of how the surface mobility of drops in the composite state is related to the size scale of the roughness features of the surface.

Theoretical and numerical investigation into brush seal hysteresis without pressure differential
Brush seal is a novel type contact seal, and it is well-known due to its excellent performance. However, there are many intrinsic drawbacks, such as hysteresis, which need to be solved.

Nanodroplets on rough hydrophilic and hydrophobic surfaces
We present results of Molecular Dynamics (MD) calculations on the behavior of liquid nanodroplets on rough hydrophobic and hydrophilic solid surfaces. On hydrophobic surfaces, the contact angle for nanodroplets depends strongly on the root mean square ...

Contact angle hysteresis and oil film lubrication in electrowetting with two immiscible liquids [PDF]
Electrowetting (EW) of water drops in ambient oil has found a wide range of applications including lab-on-a-chip devices, display screens, and variable focus lenses. The efficacy of all these applications is dependent on the contact angle hysteresis (CAH)

Experimental Analysis and Physics‐Based Analytical Model on Twisted and Coiled Artificial Muscles
Twisted and coiled artificial muscles made from silver‐coated nylon fibers are investigated through experiments and analytical modeling. The actuators achieve contractions up to 19.3% and specific work of 8 kJ kg−1, though efficiency remains limited (≈0.15%) by thermal losses.
