Composite contact of binary lipid membranes

The European Physical Journal E, 2013
Upon adhesion, binary lipid membranes may retain their structural identity but they may also undergo partial fusion promoted by microscopic phase separation of the components. In membranes composed of cylindrical and inverted conical lipids, a partially fused contact zone may consist of inverted micelles sandwiched between two monolayers.

A near‐contact binary: CN Andromedae

Astronomische Nachrichten, 2005
AbstractNew BVR light curves and photometric analysis of the eclipsing binary star CN And are presented. The shape of the light curves are typical of β Lyr type, and there are large asymmetries between maxima. The BVR light curves and the radial velocity curves (from Rucinski et al. 2000) were solved with the Wilson‐Devinney method, simultaneously. The

A Model for Contact Binary Systems

Chinese Journal of Astronomy and Astrophysics, 2007
A model for contact binary systems is presented, which incorporates the following special features: a) The energy exchange between the components is based on the understanding that the energy exchange is due to the release of potential, kinetic and thermal energies of the exchanged mass.
