Detailed Analysis of Six Contact Binaries and their Possible Origin

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
A photometric investigation of six binary systems of the W Ursae Majoris (W UMa)-type is presented. We extracted primary and secondary minima from the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite observations of these systems.

Roche Configurations of Two Near-Contact Binaries do CAS and SW Lyn [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Astronomy and Space Sciences, 1999
Light curves of two near-contact binaries DO Cas and SW Lyn are analyzed to investigate their Roche configurations. We made new BVR observations for DO Cas and employed the published observation data for SW Lyn.

Modelling the Delay Distribution of Binary Spray and Wait Routing Protocol [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
His article proposes a stochastic model to obtain the end-to-end delay law between two nodes of a Delay Tolerant Network (DTN). We focus on the commonly used Binary Spray and Wait (BSW) routing protocol and propose a model that can be applied to ...

Detection of Contact Binary Candidates Observed By TESS Using the Autoencoder Neural Network

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
A contact binary may be the progenitor of a red nova that eventually produces a merger event and have a cut-off period of around 0.2 days. Therefore, a large number of contact binaries is needed to search for the progenitor of red novae and to study the ...

Fundamental Parameters for Totally Eclipsing Contact Binaries Observed by TESS

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Totally eclipsing contact binaries provide a unique opportunity to accurately determine mass ratios through photometric methods alone, eliminating the need for spectroscopic data.

A Analysis of the Light and Radial Velocity Curves of do CAS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2000
DO Cas is a short period (P=0.68day) eclipsing binary star and is classified as a near-contact binary by Shaw (1990). There is no published radial velocity curve for this short period binary after Mannino (1958).

Photometric Study of a W UMa Type Contact Binary AH CNC [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2003
CCD photometric observations of a W UMa type contact binary AH Cnc were performed for ten nights from December 1998 to May 1999 using a PM512 CCD camera and BVI filters attached to the 61cm reflector at Sobaeksan Optical Astronomy Observatory.
