Contacts With Negative Work of “Adhesion” and Superlubricity [PDF]
Van der Waals forces between solids in vacuum are always attractive and are considered as the main source of adhesion. However, in the presence of an intermediate medium, they can also be repelling (Dzyaloshinskii et al., 1961) which means that the “work

The experimental data from VENUS, TOPAS, OPAL, DELPHI, ALEPH and L3 Collaborations collected from 1989 to 2003 are applied to study the quantum electrodynamics (QED) framework through the direct contact interaction term approach, using the annihilation ...

Superstring amplitudes and contact interactions [PDF]
Abstract We show that scattering amplitudes computed from light-cone superstring field theory are divergent at tree level. The divergences can be eliminated, and supersymmetry restored, by the addition of certain counter terms to the light-cone hamiltonian.

Local realizations of contact interactions in two- and three-body problems [PDF]
Mathematically rigorous theory of the two-body contact interaction in three dimension is reviewed. Local potential realizations of this proper contact interaction are given in terms of Poschl-Teller, exponential and square-well potentials.

Contact Interaction between Corrugated Steel Shell and the Soil Backfill Determined based on the Measurements of Shell Deformations [PDF]
Unlike in conventional bridges, the backfill and the roadway pavement have a major bearing on the load capacity of buried corrugated metal structures.

Subleading contributions to the three-nucleon contact interaction [PDF]
We obtain a minimal form of the two-derivative three-nucleon contact Lagrangian, by imposing all constraints deriving from discrete symmetries, Fierz identities and Poincare' covariance.

BCS-BEC crossover of neutron pairs in symmetric and asymmetric nuclear matter [PDF]
We propose new types of density dependent contact pairing interaction which reproduce the pairing gaps in symmetric and neutron matter obtained by a microscopic treatment based on the nucleon-nucleon interaction.
