Impossibility to describe repulsion with contact interaction

open access: yes, 2009
Contact interactions always lead to attractive behaviour. Arguments are presented to show why a repulsive interacting system, e.g. Bose gases, cannot be described by contact interactions and corresponding treatments are possibly obscured by the ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Tyrosine-Based Signals Regulate the Assembly of Daple⋅PARD3 Complex at Cell-Cell Junctions. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Polarized distribution of organelles and molecules inside a cell is vital for a range of cellular processes and its loss is frequently encountered in disease.

Contact Interactions on a Lattice

open access: yesThe Annals of Probability, 1974
Let $\{\xi_t\}$ be a Markov process whose values are subsets of $Z_d$, the $d$-dimensional integers. Put $\xi_t(x) = 1$ if $x \in \xi_t$ and 0 otherwise. The transition intensity for a change in $\xi_t(x)$ depends on $\{\xi_t(y), y$ a neighbor of $x\}$.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Numerical investigation of nonlinear deformations with contact interaction

open access: yesУчёные записки Казанского университета: Серия Физико-математические науки, 2018
The paper is devoted to the development of a computational algorithm for investigation of finite deformations of solids with contact interaction. The algorithm is based on the master-slave approach.

The Hertz contact in chain elastic collisions

open access: yes, 2004
A theoretical analysis about the influence of the Hertz elastic contact on a three body chain collision is presented. In spite of the elastic character of the collision, the final velocity of each particle depends on the particular interaction between ...

Contact interactions of anyons

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 1991
Abstract We prove that anyons, in spite of the centrifugal barrier which characterizes them, can contact interact in the broadest sense, and usually do so breaking scale invariance. This is seen by trading the contact interaction for a boundary condition, or by regularizing the contact interaction, or finally by identifying s-wave anyons with s-wave ...

Mechanisms of IgE‐mediated food allergy and the role of allergen‐specific B cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Food allergy arises when allergen‐specific B cells preferentially produce immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies against harmless foods. This article explains the mechanisms driving IgE‐mediated reactions, highlights the central role of these B cells, and discusses how natural tolerance (NT) and oral immunotherapy (OIT) can reshape allergic immune responses.

The definition of the critical buckling load beam model and two-dimensional model of the round cylindrical shell that interact with the soil

open access: yesStructural Mechanics of Engineering Constructions and Buildings, 2019
Aims of research. The research is aimed at determining the critical buckling load at which the shell interacting with the soil loses equilibrium stability, and finding the buckling mode of the shell in the linear and nonlinear formulations of the task ...
