Geometry of Modern Presbyopia-Correcting Intraocular Lenses and Changes in Haptic–Capsular Bag Behavior According to Compression and Different Well Diameters: A Bench Study Using Computed Tomography [PDF]

open access: yesOphthalmology and Therapy
Introduction The geometry of an intraocular lens (IOL), the design of the haptics, and the optic–haptic junction play a role in initial and long-term visual outcome after cataract surgery.

True Story of Poly(2-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate)-Based Contact Lenses: How Did It Really Happen

open access: yesSubstantia, 2022
Soft hydrogel contact lenses represent the most famous and commercially successful application of poly(2‑hydroxyethyl methacrylate). The scarcely crosslinked network of this hydrophilic polymer finds its use also in many other fields, be it in (bio ...

Radiation preparation and application status of photosensitive antibacterial composite hydrogel

open access: yesFushe yanjiu yu fushe gongyi xuebao, 2021
Hydrogels comprise hydrophilic polymer networks. Owing to their good biocompatibility and hydrophilicity, they are widely used in wound dressings, drug delivery, tissue engineering, bioreactors, contact lenses, and other fields.

Hybrid contact lenses for the correction of primary and induced ametropias

open access: yesРоссийский офтальмологический журнал, 2020
The review presents the data on the use of hybrid contact lenses (HCL), a modern method of contact correction of ametropias of diverse origins. A HCL has a central rigid optical zone made of highly gas-permeable material and a flexible peripheral part ...

Hydrophilic Contact Lenses ‐ Their Effect on the Cornea [PDF]

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Optometry, 1972
Central corneal thickness and curvature were measured before and after the wearing of hydrophilic lenses. There was a consistent increase in central corneal thickness, while the corneal curvature was not significantly altered.

CORNEAL CHANGES FROM HYDROPHILIC CONTACT LENSES [PDF]

open access: yesOptometry and Vision Science, 1973
Corneal thickness and corneal curvature were measured before and after the wearing of hydrophilic contact lenses and it was consistently found that the thickness increased while the curvature virtually remained unaltered. On removal of the lenses the cornea returned to its normal thickness within two hours.

Versatility of Hydrogels: From Synthetic Strategies, Classification, and Properties to Biomedical Applications

open access: yesGels, 2022
Hydrogels are three-dimensional, cross-linked, and supramolecular networks that can absorb significant volumes of water. Hydrogels are one of the most promising biomaterials in the biological and biomedical fields, thanks to their hydrophilic properties,

Fabrication of Hydrophilic Surface on Rigid Gas Permeable Contact Lenses to Enhance the Wettability Using Ultraviolet Laser System

open access: yesMicromachines, 2019
The widely used rigid gas permeable (RGP) contact lenses provide higher oxygen permeability and tear exchange rate than do soft contact lenses. However, their wettability warrants improvement to enhance the wearing comfort.
