The Fabrication of Superhydrophobic Coatings Using Food‐Grade Wax Dispersions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A method is presented for creating superhydrophobic materials using a simple mixture of food‐grade wax and solvent. By varying the solubility and dispersibility of the wax as the solvent is replaced, superhydrophobic coatings can be achieved on different substrates using spray coating.

Anisotropic Wetting Behavior on Gradient Surface Structures Fabricated by Direct Laser Interference Patterning on Stainless Steel

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
In this work, anisotropic line‐like textures with gradually increasing spatial periods from 2.0 to 4.8 µm are fabricated on stainless steel by two‐beam Direct Laser Interference Patterning using a picosecond (ps)laser source. The spontaneous motion of water droplets deposited on these gradient structures in the direction of increasing periodicity is ...

Laser‐Induced Structuring of Biocompatible Polymers for the Controlled Orientation of Multinucleated Myotubes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Laser structuring of biocompatible polymers creates precise surface patterns that influence cell organization. By imaging, contact angle measurements, and chemical analysis, this study demonstrates the ability of laser‐induced micro‐structured surfaces to guide muscle cell alignment. These findings support laser patterning of biopolymers as a promising

Laser‐Induced Plasma Effects on Bond Breaking in High‐Density Polyethylene Pyrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study introduces a novel application of Laser‐Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) for bond breaking in high‐density polyethylene (HDPE), an area previously unexplored in laser‐plastic interactions. For the first time, a numerical model has been developed to differentiate between photon‐induced and laser field‐induced plasma, demonstrating the ...

Electrically Driven Interlayer Excitons in MoSe2/WSe2 Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Electrically driven multiple interlayer excitons are reported in MoSe2/WSe2 heterostructures, encapsulated between two layers of hexagonal boron nitride. The transient electroluminescence in the MoSe2/WSe2 heterostructures is observed by applying an alternating voltage to a two‐terminal device.
