Experimental Study on Dry Friction Behavior of AlumiNm Alloy Casing

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2022
In order to study the frictional and wear behavior of alumiNm alloy casing in gas drilling technology, under dry friction conditions, taking 40CrNmo steel as the pin and 7075 alumiNm alloy as the disc, by means of pin-disc wear test system, the effects ...

Stiffness of Contacts Between Rough Surfaces

open access: yes, 2010
The effect of self-affine roughness on solid contact is examined with molecular dynamics and continuum calculations. The contact area and normal and lateral stiffnesses rise linearly with the applied load, and the load rises exponentially with decreasing

Total contact cast wall load in patients with a plantar forefoot ulcer and diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Foot and Ankle Research, 2016
BackgroundThe total contact cast (TCC) is an effective intervention to reduce plantar pressure in patients with diabetes and a plantar forefoot ulcer. The walls of the TCC have been indirectly shown to bear approximately 30 % of the plantar load.

Peptide‐based ligand antagonists block a Vibrio cholerae adhesin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The structure of a peptide‐binding domain of the Vibrio cholerae adhesin FrhA was solved by X‐ray crystallography, revealing how the inhibitory peptide AGYTD binds tightly at its Ca2+‐coordinated pocket. Structure‐guided design incorporating D‐amino acids enhanced binding affinity, providing a foundation for developing anti‐adhesion therapeutics ...

Study on Comprehensive Performance of Four-Point Contact Ball Slewing Bearings Based on a Bearing Support Bolt-Integrated Model

open access: yesMachines
To investigate four-point contact ball slewing bearings, a bearing support bolt-integrated model was created with HyperMesh and ANSYS software, and its accuracy was theoretically confirmed.

Relationships among the contact patch length and width, the tire deflection and the rolling resistance of a free-running wheel in a soil bin facility

open access: yesSpanish Journal of Agricultural Research, 2015
Qualitative and quantitative analysis of contact patch length-rolling resistance, contact patch width-rolling resistance and tire deflection-rolling resistance at different wheel load and inflation pressure levels is presented.

Modeling of the Loading–Unloading Contact of Two Cylindrical Rough Surfaces with Friction

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
The first fractal model for the loading−unloading process between two cylindrical surfaces with friction is presented. The nonlinear relation between the real contact area and the contact load in different deformation stages are deduced for a load&#

Interplay between circadian and other transcription factors—Implications for cycling transcriptome reprogramming

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

Effect of Electrical Load on Contact Welding Failure of Silver Tin Oxide Material Used in DC Electromechanical Relays

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In order to clarify the contact welding failure mechanism of DC electromagnetic relay, a series of electrical endurance tests are carried out with the use of silver tin oxide material under resistive and capacitive load conditions.

Finite-element analysis of contact between elastic self-affine surfaces

open access: yes, 2004
Finite element methods are used to study non-adhesive, frictionless contact between elastic solids with self-affine surfaces. We find that the total contact area rises linearly with load at small loads.
