Meso-structural evaluation of asphalt mixture skeleton contact based on Voronoi diagram

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials, 2023
The Voronoi diagram is a fundamental data structure for spatial neighborhood relations used in various fields related to geometric information. Taking four asphalt mixtures as the research object, this study established the skeleton contact Voronoi ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

On two structural tensors of an acm-structure

open access: yesДифференциальная геометрия многообразий фигур
Almost contact metric structures on odd-dimensional manifolds are considered. The first group of the Cartan structural equations of an arbitrary almost contact metric structure written in an A-frame (i.

Branched Covers and Contact Structures [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1987
The object of this paper is to prove the following Theorem. Every closed, orientable three-manifold has a parallelization by three contact forms.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Microscopic Mechanism Angle of Repose in Friable Loess and Its Relationship With Slope Angle

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2022
The angle of repose in soil particles plays a key role in slope stability. There was a need for the investigation on the association between the angle of repose in loess particles and the angle of slopes.

Contact structures on principal circle bundles

open access: yes, 2011
We describe a necessary and sufficient condition for a principal circle bundle over an even-dimensional manifold to carry an invariant contact structure.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

$H$-contact unit tangent sphere bundles of Riemannian manifolds

open access: yes, 2016
A contact metric manifold is said to be $H$-contact, if the characteristic vector field is harmonic. We prove that the unit tangent bundle of a Riemannian manifold $M$ equipped with the standard contact metric structure is $H$-contact if and only if $M ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...
