The Contactless Electromagnetic Sonotrode

2019
Ultrasonic pressure waves generated using a tuned electromagnetic induction coil, promote cavitation in alloy melts as an alternative to the immersed sonotrode technique. The method targets the same benefits offered by traditional UST (degassing, microstructure refinement, dispersion of particles), but without some of its drawbacks.

Contactless directional crystallization

Journal of Crystal Growth, 1999
A new method for crystal growth under reduced gravity conditions is proposed. The method combines the advantages of the Bridgman and floating zone techniques. The development of the method arose from the desire to obtain a melt configuration that is contained in a cylindrical ampoule but does not contact the lateral ampoule walls.

Optical Contactless Probing

2018
In this chapter, we demonstrate that all Intrinsic soft and hard PUF implementations in reconfigurable hardware, regardless of their architecture, are vulnerable to optical contactless probing. Since in a real scenario the implemented soft or hard PUFs inside of FPGAs are controlled PUFs, a non-invasive access to the CRPs of the PUFs is restricted by ...
