Container Rehandling at Maritime Container Terminals
2011In this paper, we review recent contributions dealing with the rehandling of containers at maritime container terminals. The problems studied in the paper refer to a post-stacking situation, i.e. problems arising after the stacking area has already been arranged.

The container terminal community
Maritime Policy & Management, 2001Over the past 30 years, technological developments have not only affected the design and operation of the port function, but also the organizational and institutional relationships within the port community. An Ontology for Container Terminal Operations
2014In this paper we describe the desctop ontology for container terminal operations. It is a semantic-based representation of the main functions of a container terminal, in order to formally represent the operational flows which the terminal operators should be supported in.

Container vessels are scheduled to visit a set of container terminals along their route. Import containers will be unloaded from the vessel while export containers will be loaded at each terminal. Berthing times at terminals are considered as non-value activities and for that reason need to be minimised.

Pavements for Container Terminals
2020The pavement of container terminals requires high investment costs. In case its design is not appropriate to subsoil conditions and load impacts, any necessary reconstruction is time-consuming and costly. The latter also implies to an overdesign of the pavement. After a compilation of terminal equipment loads, the chapter gives an overview of practical

Dwell times of containers to container terminals
2014The development of dwell times of imported containers to the hinterland at seaport container terminals is analyzed. A case is developed where containers are transported from a major seaport container terminal in the Netherlands to its nearby hinterland through a multimodal hinterland network controlled by an intermodal inland carrier.
