Overview of factors influencing consumer engagement with plastic recycling

open access: yesWIREs Energy and Environment, Volume 12, Issue 6, November/December 2023., 2023
Factors influencing consumer behavior in plastic waste recycling. Abstract Many semi‐durable and durable consumer goods are composed of plastic. Yet, plastic pollution is one of the most pressing environmental issues as it harms oceans and marine biodiversity. This state of affairs is worsened because plastic recycling rates remain low.

Tropical Easterly Waves Over Costa Rica and Their Relationship to the Diurnal Cycle of Rainfall

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 50, Issue 20, 28 October 2023., 2023
Abstract Using an index of tropical easterly wave (TEW) activity derived from spacetime‐filtered outgoing longwave radiation, we construct composites of long‐term hourly surface meteorological observations and morningtime sounding data collected near San José, Costa Rica to investigate how TEWs affect the diurnal cycle of rainfall over land.

Tracer‐aided ecohydrological modelling across climate, land cover, and topographical gradients in the tropics

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 37, Issue 5, May 2023., 2023
A new conceptual tracer‐aided ecohydrology model STARRtropics was successfully adapted to simulate daily water, tracer, and storage dynamics in a large‐scale tropical catchment driven by isotope‐enabled regional climate model output. The simulated catchment was dominated by precipitation and topography with more dynamic water and tracer responses in ...

Courts as an arena for socioenvironmental change: Lessons from the Argentine courts

open access: yesEuropean Law Journal, Volume 29, Issue 3-6, Page 294-311, May-November 2023., 2023

Proximity to metal mining is related to aspects of feather coloration but not fluctuating asymmetry in the Russet‐crowned Motmot (Momotus mexicanus) in south‐central Mexico

open access: yesIbis, Volume 165, Issue 2, Page 587-601, April 2023., 2023
Mining is present in all major biomes worldwide and overlaps strongly with areas of importance for bird conservation. Mining causes multiple types of environmental disturbance, including habitat alteration, increased human presence and persistent heavy metal pollution. Feather coloration and fluctuating asymmetry (random deviation from perfect symmetry
