Multiple‐stressor effects on leaf litter decomposition in freshwater ecosystems: A meta‐analysis

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 38, Issue 7, Page 1523-1536, July 2024.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Recent years have witnessed a surge in research on the effects of multiple stressors in freshwater ecosystems. While studies have increased, the synthesis of their findings into a broader understanding of ecosystem‐level effects remains an ongoing endeavour. Leaf litter

Effects of the Argon Pressure on the Optical Band Gap of Zinc Oxide Thin Films Grown by Nonreactive RF Sputtering

open access: yesAdvances in Condensed Matter Physics, 2013
Zinc oxide (ZnO) thin films were grown by nonreactive RF sputtering at room temperature under varying argon pressures (PAr). Their optical band gap was found to increase from 3.58 to 4.34 eV when the argon pressure increases from 2.67 to 10.66 Pa.

Plant‐based meat analogues marketed in Catalonia: analysis of contaminants, essential elements, microbiological and physicochemical status, dietary intake estimation and health risk assessment

open access: yesFood Risk Assess Europe, Volume 2, Issue 3, July 2024.
Abstract The latest barometer of food safety in Catalonia conducted by the Catalan Food Safety Agency (ACSA for its initials in Catalan) in 2021 shows that 28.7% of the population consumes meat analogues (substitutes). The main reasons for consuming this type of food are animal welfare, followed by environmental and health reasons.

Histologic, metabolomic, and transcriptomic differences in fir trees from a peri‐urban forest under chronic ozone exposure

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2024.
Urbanization alters ecosystems and evolutionary processes. Processes like air pollution by tropospheric ozone contribute to the decline of urban and peri‐urban ecosystems, such as Abies religiosa forests in the peripheral mountains southwest of Mexico City.

In-Plane Behavior of Non-Structural Autoclaved Aerated Concrete Masonry Walls with Flexible Joints

open access: yesBuildings
Nowadays there is still a lack of requirements for the design of non-structural masonry walls. For the case of non-structural autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) walls with perimeter flexible joints, experimental studies are scarce, and there are no ...

The Effect of Steel Reinforcement Diameter on the Behavior of Concrete Beams with Corrosion

open access: yesBuildings
Corrosion is one of the main problems affecting reinforced concrete (RC) structures, yet there remains a lack of studies in which the electrochemical and structural behavior of corroded RC elements are studied together.
