Behavioral Resistance in Varroa destructor: First Evidence in Response to Acaricide?
Varroa mites exhibited population‐dependent behavioral responses: two populationw avoided tau‐fluvalinate, and none showed specific behavioral responses to amitraz and oxalic acid, despite contrasting phenotypical resistance profiles. ABSTRACT The ectoparasite Varroa destructor (Mesostigmata: Varroidae) poses a major threat to honey bee colonies due to

Beyond Average Hive Performance: Tail Risk Measurement in Italian Apiculture With Honey‐at‐Risk
ABSTRACT This paper provides a framework for measuring honey‐production risk that complements standard mean‐based analyses by explicitly targeting downside tail risk. Using hive‐weight data from a large sample of Italian hives over the period 2021–2024, downside tail risk is quantified through the Honey‐at‐Risk (HaR) metric, defined as the quantile of ...

Humanin Mitigates Aβ‐Induced Retinal Pigment Epithelium Injury via AMPK‐Beclin1‐Dependent Mitophagy
Humanin (HN) enhanced the clearance of Aβ‐accumulated mitochondria in the RPE while preserving retinal function and RPE barrier integrity. HN activated AMP‐activated protein kinase (AMPK), leading to phosphorylation of ULK1 and Beclin1, which promoted the interaction between Beclin1 and Parkin and their translocation to mitochondria.

ABSTRACT Aim Immunocompromised children (IC) were presumed to be at higher risk of SARS‐COV‐2 infection and severe COVID‐19, but population‐based evidence is limited. We assessed infection risk, COVID‐19 hospitalisation, and severe outcomes in IC compared with children with and without other high‐risk conditions.
