Sirolimus for Extracranial Arteriovenous Malformations: A Scoping Review of the Evidence in Syndromic and Non‐Syndromic Cases

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are rare, high‐flow, vascular anomalies that can occur either sporadically or as part of a genetic syndrome. AVMs can progress with serious morbidity and even mortality if left unchecked. Sirolimus is an mTOR inhibitor that is effective in low‐flow vascular malformations; however, its role in AVMs is unclear.

Information Content of Turbulence

open access: yes, 2013
We treat a turbulent velocity field as a message in the same way as a book or a picture. All messages can be described by their entropy per symbol $h$, defined as in Shannon's theory of communication.

Evaluating the Utility of Paired Tumor and Germline Targeted DNA Sequencing for Pediatric Oncology Patients: A Single Institution Report

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the diagnostic yield and utility of universal paired tumor–normal multigene panel sequencing in newly diagnosed pediatric solid and central nervous system (CNS) tumor patients and to compare the detection of germline pathogenic/likely pathogenic variants (PV/LPVs) against established clinical referral criteria for cancer ...

Data linkage in medical science using the resource description framework: the AVERT model [version 2; peer review: 2 approved]

open access: yesHRB Open Research, 2019
There is an ongoing challenge as to how best manage and understand ‘big data’ in precision medicine settings. This paper describes the potential for a Linked Data approach, using a Resource Description Framework (RDF) model, to combine multiple datasets ...

Blur and perceptual content [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Intentionalism about visual experiences is the view according to which the phenomenal character of a visual experience supervenes on the content of this experience. One of the most influential objections to this view is about blur: seeing a fuzzy contour

Preferences of Pediatric Patients and Their Caregivers for Chemotherapy‐Induced Nausea and Vomiting Control Endpoints: A Mixed Methods Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Although not always achieved, complete chemotherapy‐induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) control is the conventional goal of CINV prophylaxis. In this two‐center, mixed‐methods study, we sought to understand the preferences of adolescent patients and family caregivers for CINV control endpoints.

Hierarchical Attention and Knowledge Matching Networks With Information Enhancement for End-to-End Task-Oriented Dialog Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Nowadays, most end-to-end task-oriented dialog systems are based on sequence-to-sequence (Seq2seq), which is an encoder-decoder framework. These systems sometimes produce grammatically correct, but logically incorrect responses.

TFEB Modulates p21/WAF1/CIP1 during the DNA Damage Response

open access: yesCells, 2020
The MiT/TFE family of transcription factors (MITF, TFE3, and TFEB), which control transcriptional programs for autophagy and lysosome biogenesis have emerged as regulators of energy metabolism in cancer.

Intravitreal GD2‐Specific Chimeric Antigen Receptor T‐Cell Therapy for Refractory Retinoblastoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Effective treatments for advanced, treatment‐resistant retinoblastoma (RB) remain limited. GD2‐specific chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells show potent antitumor activity with minimal toxicity but have not previously been evaluated in RB.
