Seismotectonics of the Zagros continental collision zone and a comparison with the Himalayas

Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 1986
Accurate focal depths of 16 medium to large Zagros earthquakes were determined from identification of surface‐reflected phases by comparing observed, long‐period P waves with synthetic seismograms. All events are shallow (6–12 km) and show no tendency to deepen toward the Main Zagros Thrust.

Comparison of three series of organic matter of continental origin

Organic Geochemistry, 1986
Abstract Three series of sediments containing land plant-derived organic matter were studied. They include wells from Mahakam delta, Indonesia (Miocene), Douala basin, Cameroon (Upper Cretaceous) and eastern Paris basin, France (Paleozoic). All of the kerogens and coals isolated from these series can be related to type III in a Van Krevelen diagram ...

A Performance Comparison of Continental and National Businesses in Europe

International Marketing Review, 1991
Most observers expect Europe 1992 to enhance the performance of European businesses as they expand from a national to a continental scope. But there is little direct evidence to date of the potential gain in profitability at the business level. Using the PIMS Program database of 89 European continental businesses and 253 European single‐country ...

A comparison of number-of-rain-days estimation techniques for continental hydrological modelling

2007 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2007
The number of rain-days per dekad (NRDD), a parameter of a modification of the widely used Soil Conservation Service (SCS) model, is estimated here over sub-Saharan Africa using two techniques: indicator kriging of rain-gauge measurements, and a method based on logistic regression between meteosat cold cloud duration (CCD) images and gauge measurements.

A comparison of free oscillations of oceanic and continental earth models

Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America, 1967
Abstract It is well-known that Rayleigh and Love waves over continental and oceanic structures have different periods (T) for a given order (n). In the present study, this difference is explored over the spectrum for periods greater than 30 sec, and particularly the graver fundamental spheroidal and torsional oscillations.

Comparison of composition and concentration of some lagoonal and continental brine lakes

Sedimentary Geology, 1989
Abstract Inland lakes and ocean-bordering natural and artificial salt lagoons were sampled at surface and at different levels where possible. Most were analyzed for five major components Mg, Ca, Na, K, Cl. This paper describes the various lakes and lagoons with regard to their relationship to source of salt, density, concentration, and the chemistry

Passive Continental Margins and Intra-Cratonic Rifts, A Comparison

1978
Within a complete Plate Tectonic cycle, which leads to the formation of an ocean basin and of (passive) continental margins, there are two phases; first, a rifting phase with the attenuation of continental lithosphere; later, a drifting phase with sea-floor spreading.

COMPARISON OF ANGLO SAXON AND CONTINENTAL EUROPEAN LEGAL SYSTEMS

2023
Every country including Indonesia has a legal system to regulate its government. The legal system in principle regulates the life of a society so that conflicts do not occur. Even though conflicts cannot be avoided, the legal system has a role in resolving these conflicts.

The mechanisms of petrogenesis of the Archaean continental crust—Comparison with modern processes

Lithos, 1993
The petrographic and chemical composition of magmatic rocks generated during the Archaean appears to be different from that of post-Archaean rocks. Komatiites are widespread before 2.5 Ga and rarely occur afterwards. In addition the Archaean continental crust is primarily TTG (Tonalitic, Trondhjemitic and Granodioritic) in composition, exhibiting ...
