Fracture Identification Based on Graph Pooling and Graph Construction in Continental Shale
IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote SensingIdentification of natural fractures in continental shale is a problematic task by conventional logging. To address this issue, a method known as Frac-gPCC that combines graph pooling, graph construction, and node classification to train the ...

Economic appraisal of shale gas plays in Continental Europe
Applied Energy, 2013Abstract This study evaluates the economic feasibility of five emergent shale gas plays on the European Continent. Each play is assessed using a uniform field development plan with 100 wells drilled at a rate of 10 wells/year in the first decade. The gas production from the realized wells is monitored over a 25 year life cycle.

Mechanical characteristics and factors controlling brittleness of organic-rich continental shales
Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering, 2020Abstract Brittleness is an essential parameter in the evaluation of wellbore stability and hydraulic fracturing design of shale reservoirs. It is an inherent geomechanical property controlled by the mineral composition, sedimentary structure, and geological condition. However, traditional brittleness evaluation methods based on the elastic parameters

Well-Log Based Evaluation of Gas Contents in Continental Shale Formation
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2015, 2015Shale gas, as an unconventional natural gas resource, has become an important target in the oil and gas exploration and development industries. Aiming to the continental heterogeneous shale formation in YC area, the shale gas content is measured and the factor affecting the prediction of gas contents is analyzed.

Nanoscale mechanical property of marine and continental organic kerogen in shale
Chinese Chemical Letters, 2020Abstract Kerogen is known as an important organic part for absorbing and forming shale gas whose absorption function, especially mechanical and tribological properties, has not been fully revealed. Here, we use Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis to reveal the chemical structure of kerogen.

Anomalous Boron Content of Two Continental Shales in Eastern Colorado
SEPM Journal of Sedimentary Research, 1970ABSTRACT Boron content and clay mineralogy were determined on samples from a continental facies of the Fountain Formation of Permo-Pennsylvanian age and a pre-Fountain fossil soil developed during late Mississippian time. All samples from both units were found to contain far more boron than amounts previously proposed as indicative of shales deposited ...
