ABSTRACT Chinook salmon exhibit far‐flung and disparate population‐specific marine migrations that have made it difficult to assess their trophic ecology. In this study, we collected returning and resident subadult Fraser River Chinook salmon in 2018 and 2019 from population groups with different known run‐timings (spring, summer, and fall) and marine ...

Analysis of Sea Turtle Bycatch by Andalusia Pelagic Longline Fleet in the Northeast Atlantic
ABSTRACT The Northeast Atlantic is one of the most crucial foraging grounds for juvenile loggerhead (Caretta caretta) and leatherback turtles (Dermochelys coriacea), while also serving as an important fishing area for the Andalusia surface longline fishery. The main aim of present study is to assess the sea turtle interaction with the Andalusia pelagic

ABSTRACT Feed costs and limited knowledge of feeding strategies are a major constraint to the sustainability of semi‐intensive Nile tilapia aquaculture systems in sub‐Saharan Africa. In semi‐intensive systems, Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) utilizes natural pond production and supplemental feed, but their relative contributions to growth remain ...

ABSTRACT Climate variability and environmental stressors increasingly undermine the productivity and stability of fisheries and aquaculture systems across regions. Although technologies, such as recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), integrated aquaculture–agriculture (IAA), Biofloc systems and solar powered hatcheries, have been promoted as climate ...

Exploring Affordable Curative Therapy for Sickle Cell Disease in Africa: A Comprehensive Overview
ABSTRACT The practical aspects of developing curative treatments for sickle cell disease (SCD) in Africa, such as gene therapy and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, involve strengthening healthcare infrastructure, training healthcare professionals, establishing regional treatment centers, and creating national SCD programs.

Reduced sediment accumulation rate enhances early marine diagenesis of periplatform sediments
The influence of reduced sediment accumulation rate on early marine burial diagenesis was investigated in sediments collected by ODP Leg 133. Results show that low sediment accumulation rates can produce substantial and asynchronous shifts in stable carbon isotope ratios across a slope transect without the development of sedimentological indicators of ...

Genetic Structure of Blue Ling, Molva dypterygia, in the North Atlantic
The blue ling, a deep‐water fish in the Northeast Atlantic, has experienced severe population declines since the 1970s due to intensive fishing. Genetic analysis across fjords and offshore regions using 61 SNPs revealed weak but significant differentiation, rejecting the idea of a single randomly mating population.
