Continental Shelf Sedimentation
1974In one of the first models of clastic sediments on continental shelves, Douglas Johnson (1919, p. 211) saw the shelf water column and the shelf floor as a system in dynamic equilibrium, in which the slope and grain size of the sedimentary substrate at each point controls, and is controlled by, the flux of wave energy into the bottom.
