Cell Calcification Models and Their Implications for Medicine and Biomaterial Research

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Calcification, is the process by which the tissues containing minerals are formed, occurring during normal physiological processes, or in pathological conditions. Here, it is aimed to give a comprehensive overview of the range of cell models available, and the approaches taken by these models, highlighting when and how methodological divergences arise,

Advanced Air Electrodes for Reversible Protonic Ceramic Electrochemical Cells: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Reversible protonic ceramic electrochemical cells (R‐PCECs) face challenges from sluggish and unstable oxygen reduction and evolution reactions in the air electrode. This review discusses recent progress in triple‐conducting air electrodes, emphasizing mechanisms, performance factors, and design strategies, offering guidance for creating efficient and ...

Panentheisms, Creation and Evil

open access: yesOpen Theology, 2019
Can panentheism cope with the problem of evil? This problem is often understood as one for classical theists, who maintain that the cosmos, together with its evils, was created by an all-powerful and benevolent God.

Perspektiv på döden

open access: yesKulturella Perspektiv, 2013
This text introduces the special issue of Kulturella Perspektiv called "Perspectives on death". Since the topic of "death" has been extensively researched from a cultural and social science perspective, one would think there is nothing "new" to say ...

Mechanochemistry for Metal–Organic Frameworks and Covalent–Organic Frameworks (MOFs, COFs): Methods, Materials, and Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An overview is provided of the mechanochemistry of metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent‐organic frameworks (COFs), highlighting opportunities and strategies for discovery, synthesis and reactivity studies of these materials. Mechanistic studies and comparisons to the mechanochemistry of organic solids are outlined, showcasing how advances in ...

Quadruple Helix Inversions of Liquid Crystals Orchestrated by Direct Chirality Transmission of an Intrinsically Chiral Light‐Driven Molecular Machine

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A molecular motor with four‐state dynamic chirality is integrated into liquid crystals, enabling quadruple sequential helix inversions and high helical twisting power. Due to high motor efficiency, the supramolecular helicity can be controlled by near‐infrared light via upconversion nanoparticles, resulting in a robust, multistate, photoresponsive soft

Giant Berry‐phase‐Driven X‐Ray Beam Translations in Strain‐Engineered Semiconductor Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Due to the Berry‐phase effect, X‐rays propagating in deformed crystals undergo large translations, interesting for X‐ray optics applications. Here, the lattice expansion observed upon H irradiation of dilute‐nitride semiconductors is exploited to engineer the deformation landscape of selectively hydrogenated GaAsN epilayers.

“Did somebody say ‘transition’?” A critical Intervention into the use of a notion

open access: yesPraktyka Teoretyczna, 2014
From the time of its introduction, the concept of ‘transition’ has effected a tectonic shift in our understanding of post-socialism. In the process which has taken place during the last couple of decades after the collapse of East European socialist ...
