β‐Adrenergic Signaling Promotes Anti‐Tumor Immunity in TP53‐mutant Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
β‐adrenergic stimulation enhances anti‐tumor immunity in TP53‐deficient oral squamous cell carcinoma by inducing tumor‐derived secretion of CXCL10, which attracts and activates cytotoxic CD8+ T cells. The findings demonstrate that β‐adrenergic signaling alters tumor–immune interactions via CXCL10‐mediated paracrine activation, revealing a neuro‐immune ...

Reconstructing Chi-squared Intra-table Distances in the Analysis of a Set of Contingency Tables [PDF]

open access: yes
To study similarities among the set of rows -and columns- of a contingency table, Correspondence Analysis uses chi-squared distances between row profiles -and column profiles- of that table.

On the closure of relational models

open access: yes, 2015
Relational models for contingency tables are generalizations of log-linear models, allowing effects associated with arbitrary subsets of cells in a possibly incomplete table, and not necessarily containing the overall effect. In this generality, the MLEs

Global Nitrogen Deposition Promotes Carbon Sink Formation in Terrestrial Ecosystems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nitrogen deposition alleviates ecosystem N limitation and enhances carbon sinks. Using 829 observations, we show 36% of deposited N is retained globally (39.15 Tg N yr−1), with distinct NHx and NOy contributions. This retention drives a terrestrial C sink of 0.88 Pg C yr−1 (25.48%), highlighting the importance of pool‐specific C:N stoichiometry ...

Structure learning: some testing problems

open access: yesLietuvos Matematikos Rinkinys, 2005
The work is based on data about the prevalence of congenital anomalies among newborns in Lithuania. The log-linear model is used to assess dependence structure of a subset of categorical variables. It is shown that fitting the log-linear model with just

Generalized log odds ratio analysis for the association in two-way contingency table. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The odds ratio is a measure of association used both for the analysis of a contingency table and an contingency table, where I and J are bigger than 2.

Androgen Receptor‐Induced Lactoferrin Accelerates Prostate Tumorigenesis Through Modulating Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that transcription factor androgen receptor (AR) directly binds the LF promoter, driving lactoferrin overexpression to promote ferritin (FTH1/FTL) upregulation and inhibit p53‐ALOX12‐mediated ferroptosis in prostate cancer. Lactoferrin could be a new potential therapeutic target in prostate cancer.

Beyond Transconductance: Cell‐Polymer Coupling Determines Fidelity in Action Potential Recording via Electrolyte‐Gated Polymer Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
High electrical performance alone does not guarantee efficient bioelectronic signal transduction. Despite excellent mixed ionic‐electronic conduction, recordings from cardiomyocytes reveal that p(g2T‐TT)‐based OECTs predominantly transduce field potential FP‐like signals due to weak cell‐polymer coupling.

Macrophage Extracellular Traps in Immunity and Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
As a macrophage‐mediated innate defense mechanism, the dysregulated release of METs drives chronic inflammation and influences tumor progression. Furthermore, METs exhibit a functional duality within the tumor microenvironment, capable of both promoting and suppressing tumor development.
