Single‐subject designs in character education: Methods for rigorous, contextual, and practitioner‐led research

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Character education research is often constrained by blunt methodological tools. Surveys capture breadth without depth; case studies offer richness but lack replicability; and randomised controlled trials (RCTs), though indispensable at the policy level, are costly, disruptive and ill‐suited to everyday practice with individual pupils.

Contingent Negative Variation-Findings and Perspectives in Migraine

Cephalalgia, 1993
Contingent negative variation (CNV) is a negative cerebral potential which is related to attention and arousal. CNV occurs during an experimental situation in which stimuli and responses are serially organized. Between attacks migraine patients have on average higher negative amplitudes compared to healthy controls or patients with tension-type ...

Contingent negative variation and attentional performance in humans

Neurological Research, 2001
The relation between a paper-pencil test of sustained attention (d2-letter cancellation test, d2-LCT) and the contingent negative variation (CNV) as a cortical slow potential was calculated in 23 healthy undergraduate students. Both d2-LCT and CNV reflect selective, focussed attention.

Contingent Negative Variation in Migraine

Headache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain, 1990
SYNOPSIS The Contingent Negative Variation (CNV) is an event‐related slow potential. It was recorded in healthy volunteers (n = 8) and in patients suffering from migraine without (n = 12) or with (n = 5) aura, during one (CNV1) and three second (CNV3) foreperiods in a ...
