Contingent Negative Variation in Migraine
SYNOPSIS The Contingent Negative Variation (CNV) is an event‐related slow potential. It was recorded in healthy volunteers (n = 8) and in patients suffering from migraine without (n = 12) or with (n = 5) aura, during one (CNV1) and three second (CNV3) foreperiods in a ...

Contingent negative variation in headache
AbstractContingent negative variation (CNV), an event‐related slow cerebral potential, was analyzed in 79 consecutive headache patients. Compared to normal controls (n = 33), CNV did not differ in tension headache (n = 21) or in combined headaches with a predominant tension component (n = 13).

Contingent Negative Variation (CNV)
The contingent negative variation (CNV), first described by Gray Walter in 1964 as “expectancy wave,” is a slow cortical endogenous potential widely recognized as the electrophysiological signature of a task-specific preparatory state that facilitates the stimulus perception and the required response.

The contingent negative variation in positive and negative types of schizophrenia
The authors analyzed the contingent negative variations of 20 medicated patients with schizophrenia diagnosed according to DSM-III-R and 20 age- and sex-matched normal comparison subjects. For the patients with schizophrenia, there were significant correlations between contingent negative variation amplitude and two items on the Scale for the ...

Contingent Negative Variation-Findings and Perspectives in Migraine
Cephalalgia, 1993Contingent negative variation (CNV) is a negative cerebral potential which is related to attention and arousal. CNV occurs during an experimental situation in which stimuli and responses are serially organized. Between attacks migraine patients have on average higher negative amplitudes compared to healthy controls or patients with tension-type ...

Serotonergic-1a activity and contingent negative variation
While cholinergic, dopaminergic, noradrenergic, and gabaergic effects on contingent negative variation (CNV) have been largely described, little is known about serotonergic influence. Therefore, the relationship between CNV and serotonergic activity as reflected by prolactin (PRL) response to flesinoxan, a 5-HT(1A) full agonist, has been investigated ...

Contingent negative variation and attentional performance in humans
Neurological Research, 2001The relation between a paper-pencil test of sustained attention (d2-letter cancellation test, d2-LCT) and the contingent negative variation (CNV) as a cortical slow potential was calculated in 23 healthy undergraduate students. Both d2-LCT and CNV reflect selective, focussed attention.

The Contingent Negative Variation in Psychopaths
Psychophysiology, 1989ABSTRACTThere have been persistent claims that the contingent negative variation (CNV) is absent or greatly attenuated in psychopaths. However, these claims are based on a few studies with serious methodological and diagnostic problems. The present study attempted to avoid these problems.
