Technique for Lateral Opening Wedge Distal Femoral Osteotomy Using Patient‐Specific Instrumentation for Genu Valgum and Patellar Instability

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, EarlyView.
Abstract Recurrent lateral patellar instability poses a technical challenge to orthopaedic surgeons. Isolated soft‐tissue procedures through medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction or lateral release show unacceptably high failure rates. Lateral opening wedge distal femoral osteotomy addresses underlying bony malalignment and reinforces the soft ...

Regression Trees and Contingent Valuation

Fourth International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD 2007), 2007
We discuss the use of regression trees in the contingent valuation problem. A method is proposed for valuation that exploits surrogate variables. The method is applied to Boston housing data to assess the dependence of house values on a variable related to air pollution.

Appraising the use of contingent valuation

Health Economics, 1992
AbstractThe valuation of treatments and health states has been pursued in a number of ways. Most predominant are contingent valuation (CV), QALYs, and HYEs. CV—that is, willingness to pay and willingness to accept—is the only one of these methods that can be consistent with welfare economic theory, but, as discussed by Gafni (1990), in order to do so ...

Insensitivity to Scope in Contingent Valuation Studies

Applied Health Economics and Health Policy, 2012
The credibility of contingent valuation studies has been questioned because of the potential occurrence of scope insensitivity, i.e. that respondents do not react to higher quantities or qualities of a good. The aim of this study was to examine the extent of scope insensitivity and to assess the relevance of potential explanations that may help to shed ...

Contingent Valuation In Fisheries Management: The Design Of Satisfactory Contingent Valuation Formats

1987
Fisheries management involves tradeoffs across recreational, commercial, and aesthetic goods. Contingent valuation assists in quantifying these tradeoffs by eliciting resource values directly from the individuals who are affected by resource management.

CONTINGENT VALUATION OF LANDSCAPE.

Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Transport, 1999
Current methods for assessing the impact of road schemes do not incorporate a monetary value to the loss of landscape caused by a new road. The contingent valuation method (CVM) offers the opportunity to derive a value equal to the preservation benefits of alternative schemes which do not adversely affect the landscape. This study identifies the values
