Irreducible continua and generalization of hereditarily unicoherent continua by means of membranes [PDF]
In [2] we defined an irreducible B(J)-cartesian membrane, and used this to obtain a characterization of an n-sphere by generalizing the definition of simple closed curve given by Theorem 1.2 below. There B(J) is a class A(n) of (n−1)-spheres, but here it is a class of mutually homeomorphic continua.

Generalized Beams and Continua. Dynamics of Reticulated Structures [PDF]
This paper deals with the dynamic behavior of periodic reticulated beams and materials. Through the homogenization method of periodic discrete media the macro-behavior is derived at the leading order. With a systematic use of scaling, the analysis is performed on the archetypical case of symmetric unbraced framed cells.

A Burgessian critique of nominalistic tendencies in contemporary mathematics and its historiography [PDF]
We analyze the developments in mathematical rigor from the viewpoint of a Burgessian critique of nominalistic reconstructions. We apply such a critique to the reconstruction of infinitesimal analysis accomplished through the efforts of Cantor, Dedekind ...

Structural Dynamics and Generalized Continua [PDF]
This paper deals with the dynamic behavior of reticulated beams made of the periodic repetition of symmetric unbraced frames. Such archetypical cells can present a high contrast between shear and compression deformability, conversely to “massive” media.

Stevin numbers and reality [PDF]
We explore the potential of Simon Stevin's numbers, obscured by shifting foundational biases and by 19th century developments in the arithmetisation of analysis.Comment: 22 pages, 4 figures.

Magnetic control of the pair creation in spatially localized supercritical fields [PDF]
We examine the impact of a perpendicular magnetic field on the creation mechanism of electron-positron pairs in a supercritical static electric field, where both fields are localized along the direction of the electric field.

Dislocations and Cracks in Generalized Continua [PDF]
Dislocations play a key role in the understanding of many phenomena in solid state physics, materials science, crystallography and engineering. Dislocations are line defects producing distortions and self-stresses in an otherwise perfect crystal lattice.

On a hierarchy of nonlinearly dispersive generalized KdV equations
We propose a hierarchy of nonlinearly dispersive generalized Korteweg--de Vries (KdV) evolution equations based on a modification of the Lagrangian density whose induced action functional the KdV equation extremizes. It is shown that two recent nonlinear
