Generic Homeomorphisms with Shadowing of One-Dimensional Continua [PDF]

open access: yesAxioms, 2019
In this article, we show that there are homeomorphisms of plane continua whose conjugacy class is residual and have the shadowing property.

Dislocations and Cracks in Generalized Continua [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Dislocations play a key role in the understanding of many phenomena in solid state physics, materials science, crystallography and engineering. Dislocations are line defects producing distortions and self-stresses in an otherwise perfect crystal lattice.

Irreducible continua and generalization of hereditarily unicoherent continua by means of membranes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Australian Mathematical Society, 1965
In [2] we defined an irreducible B(J)-cartesian membrane, and used this to obtain a characterization of an n-sphere by generalizing the definition of simple closed curve given by Theorem 1.2 below. There B(J) is a class A(n) of (n−1)-spheres, but here it is a class of mutually homeomorphic continua.

On generalized $V^n$-continua

open access: yes, 2023
The notion of a $V^n$-continuum was introduced by Alexandroff \cite{ps} as a generalization of the concept of $n$-manifold. In this note we consider the cohomological analogue of $V^n$-continuum and prove that any strongly locally homogeneous generalized continuum $X$ with cohomological dimension $\dim_G X=n$ is a generalized $V^n$-space with respect ...

Dendritic generalized Peano continua

open access: yesTopology and its Applications, 2006
A known result in continuum theory states that a Peano continuum is a dendrite if and only if it is a tree-like space, i.e., it is the limit of an inverse sequence of compact trees. This result and other background material about continua can be found in [\textit{S. B. Nadler}, Continuum Theory, Marcel Dekker, New York (1992; Zbl 0757.54009)].

Material data identification in generalized continua

open access: yesCoRR
We introduce a data-driven framework for identifying material behavior from full-field kinematics and force measurements in generalized (micromorphic) continua. Unlike traditional approaches that rely on constitutive assumptions or homogenization schemes, our method extracts generalized stress--strain data by enforcing non-classical balance laws and ...

Structural Dynamics and Generalized Continua. In : Mechanics of Generalized Continua

open access: yes, 2011
This paper deals with the dynamic behavior of reticulated beams made of the periodic repetition of symmetric unbraced frames. Such archetypical cells can present a high contrast between shear and compression deformabilities, conversely to massive media. This opens the possibility of enriched local kinematics involvingphenomena of global rotation, inner

Structural Dynamics and Generalized Continua [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper deals with the dynamic behavior of reticulated beams made of the periodic repetition of symmetric unbraced frames. Such archetypical cells can present a high contrast between shear and compression deformability, conversely to “massive” media.
