Normal‐Appearing White Matter Injury Mediates Chronic Deep Venous Hypoxia and Disease Progression in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore how cerebral hypoxia and Normal‐Appearing White Matter (NAWM) integrity affect MS lesion burden and clinical course. Methods Seventy‐nine MS patients, including 13 clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) patients and 66 relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) patients, and 44 healthy controls (HCs) were recruited from ...

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

On approximation of some Lauricella-Saran's hypergeometric functions $F_M$ and their ratios by branched continued fractions

open access: yesМатематичні Студії
The paper considers the problem of approximating Lauricella-Saran's hypergeometric functions $F_M(a_1,a_2,b_1,b_2;a_1,c_2;z_1,z_2,z_3)$ by rational functions, which are approximants of branched continued fraction expansions - a special family functions ...

Comparison of the methods for discrete approximation of the fractional-order operator [PDF]

open access: yesActa Montanistica Slovaca, 2003
In this paper we will present some alternative types of discretization methods (discrete approximation) for the fractional-order (FO) differentiator and their application to the FO dynamical system described by the FO differential equation (FDE).

Active and Passive Realization of Fractance Device of Order 1/2

open access: yesActive and Passive Electronic Components, 2008
Active and passive realization of Fractance device of order 1/2 is presented. The crucial point in the realization of fractance device is finding the rational approximation of its impedance function.

Hierarchy of the low-lying excitations for the (2+1)-dimensional q=3 Potts model in the ordered phase

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2017
The (2+1)-dimensional q=3 Potts model was simulated with the exact diagonalization method. In the ordered phase, the elementary excitations (magnons) are attractive, forming a series of bound states in the low-energy spectrum.

GENERALIZED CONTINUED FRACTION EXPANSIONS WITH CONSTANT PARTIAL DENOMINATORS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Australian Mathematical Society, 2018
We study generalized continued fraction expansions of the form $$\begin{eqnarray}\frac{a_{1}}{N}\frac{}{+}\frac{a_{2}}{N}\frac{}{+}\frac{a_{3}}{N}\frac{}{+}\frac{}{\cdots },\end{eqnarray}$$ where $N$ is a fixed positive integer and the partial numerators $a_{i}$

Prognostic Value of Neurofilament Light Chain and Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein in ALD‐Related Myelopathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background X‐linked adrenoleukodystrophy (X‐ALD) is a neurometabolic disorder caused by pathogenic variants in ABCD1, leading to slowly progressive spinal cord disease in nearly all affected men. Sensitive biomarkers to quantify disease severity and predict progression are needed for clinical care and trial design.

Electronic realization of the fractional-order systems [PDF]

open access: yesActa Montanistica Slovaca, 2007
This article is devoted to the electronic (analogue) realization of the fractional-order systems – controllers or controlled objects whose we earlier used, identified, and analyzed as a mathematical models only namely a fractional-order differential ...

Several properties of hypergeometric Bernoulli numbers

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2019
In this paper, we give several characteristics of hypergeometric Bernoulli numbers, including several identities for hypergeometric Bernoulli numbers which the convergents of the continued fraction expansion of the generating function of the ...
