On the Analytic Continuation of Appell's Hypergeometric Function F2 to Some Symmetric Domains in the Space C2

open access: yesSymmetry
The paper considers the problem of representation and extension of Appell’s hypergeometric functions by a special family of functions—branched continued fractions.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Numerical Evidence that the Perturbation Expansion for a Non-Hermitian $\mathcal{PT}$-Symmetric Hamiltonian is Stieltjes

open access: yes, 2000
Recently, several studies of non-Hermitian Hamiltonians having $\mathcal{PT}$ symmetry have been conducted. Most striking about these complex Hamiltonians is how closely their properties resemble those of conventional Hermitian Hamiltonians.

Galaxy Formation Spanning Cosmic History [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Over the past several decades, galaxy formation theory has met with significant successes. In order to test current theories thoroughly we require predictions for as yet unprobed regimes.

FGFR Like1 drives esophageal cancer progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and notch signalling: insights from clinical data and next‐generation sequencing analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Clinical analysis reveals significant dysregulation of FGFRL1 in esophageal cancer (EC) patients. RNAi‐coupled next‐generation sequencing (NGS) and in vitro study reveal FGFRL1‐mediated EC progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and Notch pathways. Functional assays confirm its role in tumor growth, migration, and invasion.

On Salem numbers, expansive polynomials and Stieltjes continued fractions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A converse method to the Construction of Salem (1945) of convergent families of Salem numbers is investigated in terms of an association between Salem polynomials and Hurwitz quotients via expansive polynomials of small Mahler measure.

Numerical stability of the branched continued fraction expansion of Horn's hypergeometric function $H_4$

open access: yesMatematychni Studii
In this paper, we consider some numerical aspects of branched continued fractions as special families of functions to represent and expand analytical functions of several complex variables, including generalizations of hypergeometric functions.

Predicting and Comparing the Subjective Health Experience of Older Cancer Survivors and Non‐Cancer Survivors: A Modeling Approach

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This study underscores the significant influence of frailty and vitality on the subjective health experience of older cancer survivors with acceptance and control emerging as salient mediators. These findings affirm the conceptual and empirical robustness of the model highlighting its potential utility in shaping future interventions for older cancer ...

Matrix methods for Pad\'e approximation: numerical calculation of poles, zeros and residues

open access: yes, 2018
A representation of the Pad\'e approximation of the $Z$-transform of a signal as a resolvent of a tridiagonal matrix $J$ is given. Several formulas for the poles, zeros and residues of the Pad\'e approximation in terms of the matrix $J$ are proposed ...
