Sensitivity Analysis Based on Markovian Integration by Parts Formula
Sensitivity analysis is widely applied in financial risk management and engineering; it describes the variations brought by the changes of parameters. Since the integration by parts technique for Markov chains is well developed in recent years, in this ...

Coarse Ricci curvature for continuous-time Markov processes [PDF]
The coarse Ricci curvature for Markov chains is generalized for continuous time. We show that a positive coarse Ricci curvature implies a contraction of the Markov process for the Wasserstein distance between probability measures.

The spatial ecology of stalk‐and‐ambush predators like the Eurasian lynx Lynx lynx depends on prey availability and environmental features, yet the relative roles of these factors remain unclear at large spatial scales. In this study, we analysed lynx habitat use across central and southern Finland using snow‐track data from the Wildlife Triangle ...

Continuous outcome estimation in N‐of‐1 trials for accelerated decision‐making
Abstract Objective N‐of‐1 trials aim to determine the therapeutic effect for a single individual. This individualized approach necessitates collecting multiple data points over time through repeated alternating periods of active treatment and a comparator or control condition.

Stability of Queueing Systems with Impatience, Balking and Non-Persistence of Customers
The operation of many queueing systems is adequately described by the structured multidimensional continuous-time Markov chains. The most well-studied classes of such chains are level-independent Quasi-Birth-and-Death processes, GI/M/1 type and M/G/1 ...

Schematic diagram showing the proposed approach for EV charging/discharging. ABSTRACT The number of electric vehicles (EVs) on the road is rising as a result of recent advancements in EV technology, and EVs are important to the smart grid economy. Demand response schemes involving electric vehicles have the potential to dramatically reduce the cost of ...

Evaluation of fall‐seeded cover crops for grassland nesting waterfowl in eastern South Dakota
Cover crops are experiencing a revival among Midwestern farmers, and we assessed their attractiveness and safety for nesting ducks in South Dakota. Nest success was markedly lower in cover crops than in perennial cover during both years of our study, including 2019 which was a best‐case scenario for cover crops, with extremely wet conditions delaying ...
