Subordination Pathways to Fractional Diffusion
The uncoupled Continuous Time Random Walk (CTRW) in one space-dimension and under power law regime is splitted into three distinct random walks: (rw_1), a random walk along the line of natural time, happening in operational time; (rw_2), a random walk ...

Dephasing by a continuous-time random walk process [PDF]
Stochastic treatments of magnetic resonance spectroscopy and optical spectroscopy require evaluations of functions like , where t is time, Q(s) is the value of a stochastic process at time s, and the angular brackets denote ensemble averaging. This paper gives an exact evaluation of these functions for the case where Q is a continuous-time random walk ...

ABSTRACT As global populations age, cancer is increasingly becoming a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among older adults, particularly in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs). Despite accounting for the majority of new cancer cases and deaths, older individuals remain underrepresented in cancer research, clinical guidelines, and health ...

Discrete random walk models for symmetric Levy-Feller diffusion processes
We propose a variety of models of random walk, discrete in space and time, suitable for simulating stable random variables of arbitrary index $\alpha$ ($0< \alpha \le 2$), in the symmetric case.

Long‐Term Follow‐Up of Chemotherapy‐Associated Biological Aging in Women With Early Breast Cancer
Women threated with adjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer have sustained long‐term increase in p16INK4a,, a robust marker of cell senescence, suggesting a chemotherapy‐associated age acceleration. p16INK4a as well as other biomarkers may identify patients at greatest risk for senescence‐related diseases of aging.

The Role of Anomalous Transport in Long‐Term, Stream Water Chemistry Variability
We investigate the occurrence of anomalous (non‐Fickian) transport in an hydrological catchment system at kilometer scales and over a 36‐year period. Using spectral analysis, we examine the fluctuation scaling of long‐term time series measurements of a ...

A generating function approach to branching random walks
It is well known that the behaviour of a branching process is completely described by the generating function of the offspring law and its fixed points.

On the critical point of the Random Walk Pinning Model in dimension d=3 [PDF]
We consider the Random Walk Pinning Model studied in [3,2]: this is a random walk X on Z^d, whose law is modified by the exponential of \beta times L_N(X,Y), the collision local time up to time N with the (quenched) trajectory Y of another d-dimensional ...

Lessons Learned From a Delayed‐Start Trial of Modafinil for Freezing of Gait in Parkinson's Disease
ABSTRACT Objective Freezing of gait (FOG) in people with Parkinson's disease (PwPD) is debilitating and has limited treatments. Modafinil modulates beta/gamma band activity in the pedunculopontine nucleus (PPN), like PPN deep brain stimulation. We therefore tested the hypothesis that Modafinil would improve FOG in PwPD.
