A CONTINUOUS CRACKED BEAM VIBRATION THEORY

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1998
Summary: A continuous cracked beam vibration theory is developed for the lateral vibration of cracked Euler-Bernoulli beams with single-edge or double-edge open cracks. The Hu-Washizu-Barr variational formulation was used to develop the differential equation and the boundary conditions of the cracked beam as a one-dimensional continuum.

Continuous Slabs and Beams

2018
Continuity provides an economic benefit with shallow sections and longer spans possible. Continuity also inherently improves safety due to the redundancy provided by the continuity. This comes at a price of increased calculation and detailing complexity, increased construction complexity, and increased propensity for cracking and other distress due to ...

Prestressed concrete continuous beams

1987
In prestressed concrete, one important difference between simple beams and continuous beams is that, in the latter, prestressing generally induces support reactions. Consider the simple beam in Fig. 10.1-1(a). If for the time being, we do not consider the effects of the dead and imposed loads, then whatever the magnitude of the prestressing force and ...

Forced Vibrations of Continuous Beams

Transactions of the American Society of Civil Engineers, 1952
The determination of the forced oscillations of a continuous beam due to an exciting force is presented in this paper.

Beam on Continuous Support

1975
In the preceding chapter we have used the hereditary integrals and the correspondence principle for the analysis of viscoelastic beams. We have seen how both approaches may be applied even to structures which consist of several materials with different kinds of viscoelastic response.

Vibrations of Continuous Beams

1991
This chapter describes how to use a FORTRAN computer program for determining the resonant frequencies and eigenmodes for encastre and continuous beams.

Symbolic Analysis of Continuous Beams

International Journal of Mechanical Engineering Education, 2008
The study presents a direct method for obtaining symbolic solutions for continuous beams. The external applied concentrated forces, distributed forces and moment couples are represented by step/singular functions. The integration of the governing differential equation and the solution of the boundary and support conditions are performed using ...

Built‐in and Continuous Beams

Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, 1942
PROBLEMS relating to built‐in or rigid‐end members under transverse loading are frequently encountered by the aircraft engineer. In the following paper discussion of relevant theorems leads to the development of Clapeyron's Theorem of Three Moments. The latter is particularly valuable in, for example, estimating the crankshaft bearing loads in a non ...
