JOM, 1971Horizontal, continuous casting of aluminum ingot is discussed with special attention directed to metal supply, mold package, mold lubrication, ingot cooling, and alignment of equipment. In most instances, requirements are more rigorous than with vertical, discontinuous direct chill casting.
