Clean rings of continuous functions
Algebra universalis, 2007A ring is clean if every element is the sum of a unit and an idempotent. Let $$ 1 \in A $$ be a dense local subring of the reals which is not a field. We show that the ring of A-valued continuous functions on a zero-dimensional space X is clean if and only if X ...

Clean Energy and The Need for Effective Transformation and Continuous Improvement
Climate and Energy, 2021The world's economy and society are embarking on one of the most challenging and important transformations in the history of humankind. The need to reduce carbon emissions and transition to cleaner energy sources is existential, and as such we as a society are facing both temporal deadlines and massive upheaval in human behaviors.

A clean air continuous flow propulsion facility
28th Joint Propulsion Conference and Exhibit, 1992Consideration is given to a contaminant-free, high enthalpy, continuous flow facility designed to obtain detailed code validation measurements of high speed combustion. The facility encompasses uncontaminated air temperature control to within 5 K, fuel temperature control to 2 K, a ceramic flow straightener, drying of inlet air, and steady state ...

Cleaning the Periodicity in Discrete- and Continuous-Time Nonlinear Dynamical Systems
International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2014We investigate periodicity suppression in two-dimensional parameter-spaces of discrete- and continuous-time nonlinear dynamical systems, modeled respectively by a two-dimensional map and a set of three first-order ordinary differential equations. We show for both cases that, by varying the amplitude of an external periodic forcing with a fixed angular

Depolymerization of clean unfilled PTFE waste in a continuous process
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2006AbstractA continuous process is described whereby waste PTFE was converted into tetrafluoroethylene (C2F4, TFE), hexafluoroethane (C2F6, HFE), hexafluoropropylene (C3F6, HFP), and octafluorocyclobutane (c‐C4F8, OFCB). The waste PTFE was depolymerized inside a reactor that was heated by a radiofrequency induction generator.

Analysis: California continues clean-car quest
Engineering & Technology, 2009One of Barack Obama's first actions as incoming US President could allow California to set its own limits on greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles.US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) denied California's request for a waiver exempting it from the US Clean Air Act, which mandates limits on air pollution levels but currently not greenhouse gas ...
