Prognosis of Long‐Term Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and the Impact of Combined Continuous Intravenous Sodium Infusion Therapy

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients requiring long‐term continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) generally have poor prognoses. This study evaluated whether adding continuous intravenous sodium infusion (cIVNa) is associated with improved hemodynamics and outcomes in patients undergoing long‐term CRRT for ≥ 7 days.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Pair-copula constructions of multiple dependence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Building on the work of Bedford, Cooke and Joe, we show how multivariate data, which exhibit complex patterns of dependence in the tails, can be modelled using a cascade of pair-copulae, acting on two variables at a time.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Nonlinearity and Temporal Dependence [PDF]

open access: yes
Nonlinearities in the drift and diffusion coefficients influence temporal dependence in scalar diffusion models. We study this link using two notions of temporal dependence: beta-mixing and rho-mixing.

Continuous dependence of fixed point sets [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1973
The stability of the fixed point sets of a uniformly convergent sequence of set valued contractions is proved under the assumption that the maps are defined on a closed bounded subset B B

Theory of continuous rate-dependent hysteresis [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications in Nonlinear Science and Numerical Simulation, 2020
Hysteresis is a special type of behavior ubiquitous in science and engineering: it consists in that slow inputs produce a loop in the steady-state part of the graph output-versus-input. On the other hand, mathematical textbooks on hysteresis use a different property to define hysteresis processes: rate independence.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Theoretical Results on the pth Moment of ϕ-Hilfer Stochastic Fractional Differential Equations with a Pantograph Term

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
Here, we establish significant results on the well-posedness of solutions to stochastic pantograph fractional differential equations (SPFrDEs) with the ϕ-Hilfer fractional derivative.
