Drainage of water droplets in a bounded paraffin oil continuous phase: Role of temperature, size and boundary walls

Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 2014
Abstract This article presents numerical simulations of the hydrodynamics generated by droplets evolving in a continuous paraffin oil phase and submitted to gravity. The model under consideration is two-dimensional, includes capillarity, free boundaries and is simulated with a finite volume technique.

One‐Dimensional Nonlinear Consolidation Behavior of Layered Soils With Heterogeneous Foundations and Continuous Drainage Boundaries

International Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics
ABSTRACT This study investigated one‐dimensional nonlinear consolidation behavior in layered soils, incorporating nonlinear void ratio‐permeability and void ratio‐compression relationships to establish a governing equation that accounts for material heterogeneity.

One‐dimensional consolidation analysis of layered soil with exponential flow under continuous drainage boundary

International Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics
AbstractTo comprehensively consider the influence of boundary conditions, non‐Darcy flow, load forms, and soil stratification on soil consolidation, a one‐dimensional soil consolidation equation is established. By subdividing the soil layer and employing time discretization, the nonlinear consolidation equation is linearized, resulting in an analytical
